4. Coal mining is important to Nanaimo because coal gives people heat and keeps them warm. A lot of people had jobs because of coal mining.

5. Nanaimo parks are important because kids can play at them. One of the biggest playgrounds in Nanaimo is at Beban park.

6. Nanaimo bath tub races are wet and cool. They were started by Mayor Frank Ney. He used to dress up in a pirate’s suit to start the races.
