2 WHAT IS A NOUN?  A word that identifies a place, person, thing or idea.

3 1. With your table partners, look carefully at the lists to figure out the differences between each type of noun.

4 2. Together, add words from the bank to the appropriate column.

5 3. Write your own individual definition for each category.

9 concrete noun A noun which can be identified through one of the five senses (taste, touch, sight, hearing, smell). Source: Grammarly

10 abstract noun An abstract noun is a noun which cannot be identified using one of the five senses (taste, touch, sight, hearing, smelling). Source: Grammarly

11 collective noun A word which refers to a group of nouns. The nouns can be people, places or things. Some are non-specific and refer to any noun (e.g. group: group of people, group of photographs, chairs). Some can refer to only one thing (e.g. a pride of lions; you can’t have a pride of chairs or a pride of birds).
