5Stephan Nicklas Description of the Assignment measuring of all vehicle components in extreme driving conditions low sample rate (< 50 Hz) with a high number of measuring points (300 and more) logging of temperatures, pressures, voltage, current etc. and internal vehicle network information (control units)

6Stephan Nicklas Visualization of the Assignment

7Stephan Nicklas Example of Use Within the scope of a road test of 37 test vehicles you have to built up a prototype with 300 measuring points within 4 weeks. The prototype will be used for testing by several departments during a period of 3 weeks. Optimize the number and the position of the measuring points (costs per measuring point =127 €) and compare the positions with the simulation / calculation results Organize the infrastructure for such a road test (about 60 participants)

8Stephan Nicklas Example of Use

9Stephan Nicklas Problems Time need for the built-up of the unique prototype is about 400 man hours (only for the fixing of the measuring points). That means that the prototype will be blocked for 4 weeks (costs: 7000€ per day and vehicle). Space for the cable sets within the prototype ( cut outs, thermal obstruction, weight etc.) Space for the measuring equipment in the passenger cabin or the baggage compartment and the thermal contamination e.g. during climatic tests or heat protection tests Cost per measuring flume ( about 250 - 300 € per flume). Invest of about 2 Mio € for such a road test (37 test cars)

10Stephan Nicklas The Future Needs Decentralized measuring systems with standardized interface for fitted components with measuring points and measuring devices. Standardized system with one connection bus (including power supply) or a confident radio circuit Small measuring devices with a high-temperature stability (125°C or more) Reduction of expenses of the measuring devices The same evolution of the non-temperature devices Link to specialized providers, institutes and others
