The two tools used to solve linear equations, adding the same number to both sides and multiplying both sides by the same nonzero number, are not enough to solve higher-degree equations. However, our number system has the following property which provides another tool necessary to solve higher- degree equations. It is important to note that the Zero-Factor Property only works for a product equal to zero.
