Purpose of a route card:
To identify where a group should be at anytime.
To pre plan for emergencies.
To aid a groups navigation on the ground
A well prepared route card should enable a group to follow their route on a map using only the card

To a point where either you change direction or path type changes

10. Recipe for Route Direction - Examples
Footpath SW for 400m past mast to cross paths, then bridleway W for 1.5Km downhill to junction with orange road.
Byway N 1Km past Joe’s farm to junction with road, 200m west on road then bridleway N to Green Woods.
Footpath N, curving NE 1.5Km to Manor house, then bridleway E 500m past church to junction with footpath.
