TEXT TOOL Used to -change font and font size -add text to text blocks -selecting and highlighting text

DEFINE INDESIGN Indesign is a software program from Adobe that allows you to incorporate text and graphics on a page and control the layout and appearance

DEFINE LEADING Adjusting the space between certain character pairs

SERIF FONTS Serif fonts are fonts with lines on the edges. These are all serif fonts: CAPITALS Times New Roman

DOCUMENT SETUP Document setup is used to: -margins -number of pages -page orientation

CREATING A PUBLICATION: -consider the purpose and audience of the publication -promote readability by carefully choosing fonts, styles, etc -make the publication creative and professional

STROKE -The stroke of the line refers to how thick the line is

SANS SERIF A san serif font, is a font without lines. The following are sans serif fonts: Arial Candara

TYPE STYLES Type styles are styles that you can add to any type. -Italicize -Bold -Underline -Strikethrough

PUBLISHING VOCAB Rulers – the horizontal and vertical measurement scale that appears on the top and left of a screen Cursor – a blinking vertical line showing the location in the document. Tools – a display of symbols or pictures that represent selections for performing certain tasks Scroll bars – bars on which you can click or drag to view different part of a window or a list box Text tool – used to key text on the pages

PUBLISHING VOCAB CONTINUED Text alignment – the way that the text is on the page right aligned – all text touched the right side of the page Left aligned – all of the text touches the left side of the page (default) Center aligned – the text is uneven on the edges and aligned along the center Justified – all of the text touches both sides of the page, space is inserted throughout the words in the middle
