5.  Preservice are not receiving the education necessary to effectively integrate technology into the classroom.  The benefits of using technology have us asking for to use it appropriately and effectively in the classroom.  Students are becoming more and more adept at using technology as an educational resource. Many teachers, however, are not keeping pace with their students.  Teachers wonder why they should keep up with every changing technology. To quickly paraphrase Vigotsky: teachers must learn technology now because we build on what we already know, which will make technologies of the future easier to learn and keep pace with.

6.  This course starts from the bare bones of technology. How can you use the wonderful features of a SMARTBoard, when you have not yet learned to turn one on?  This is a practical, hands-on course where students will be active in their use of technology.
