Viking Women Vikings used wool for clothes more than anything else.
Vikings brought sheep to the island for food and wool. The clothes where made by the women and they dyed their clothes with vegetable dye.

Viking Men Viking men wore a long woollen shirt and long trousers.
Viking men wore long coats and leather shoes.

Viking Children Viking children usually took their mother or fathers name. Viking children did not go to school instead they helped their parents at work. By the time they were 15 they were adults and the girls father choose her husband.

Viking Boats The Vikings weren’t the first to build boats but they built the best of their time. The long ships were one of the most popular ships built by the Vikings.

The Battle of Clontarf The Battle of Clontarf took place outside Dublin on good Friday 23 of April 1014. Brian Boru was king of munster and ruled for twelve years. The Vikings were jealous of his power and didn’t want him as king.

The Battle of Clontarf The two armies faced each other at Clontarf.
Some Vikings fought on Brian Boru's side. The battle of Clontarf lasted a whole day.

Viking Beliefs When the Vikings came to Britain they had their own pagan religion. They worshiped many gods. They told stories about the gods and these were called Norse myths.

What Vikings left Behind
Archaeologists find lots of remains from the Vikings such as houses, burial sites and carvings on stones. Vikings left their mark on the English language. Lots of English words came from the Vikings. Some examples are husband, egg, law and knife.
