Challenges to Restoring 4,400-acre Skaggs Island to tidal marsh: The site is subsided ~6 - 8 feet on average > 40 million yds 3 of material needed to bring Skaggs to marsh elevation Since ~3 million yds 3 are dredged annually in the bay, it would take over 13 years to fill Skaggs - if we got it all Restoring all 4,400 acres of Skaggs to tidal elevation will likely be a decadal process

1,100-Acre Haire Ranch USFWS is working with DU & NRCS to do preliminary planning, design, and permitting. NRCS has easement on Haire Ranch w/ obligation to deliver “habitat enhancements” w/in 5 years 3,300 Skaggs Island Considering phasing restoration (one passive; one w/ dredge placement) Completed preliminary topo data & WD Upcoming in 2016: Existing Conditions Report; Opportunities & Constraints; Preliminary Design
