Happy Tuesday! DQ: What is the velocity of a snail that can slither 10 feet in 30 minutes? What are the units of measure for this velocity? What is that velocity in feet per hour? Today: Energy Transformation Project Gallery Walk Review Force and Motion Vocabulary

DQ: What is the velocity of a snail that can slither 10 feet in 30 minutes? What are the units of measure for this velocity? What is that velocity in feet per hour? v = distance/time v = 10ft/30min v = 0.33 ft/min Since there are 60 minutes in an hour and the snail will go 0.33 ft in 1 minute We multiply 0.33 ft/min by 60 minutes to get 20 ft/hr

Gallery Walk Please place your completed visual on your table with your assignment handout Look at the visuals created by your classmates Identify and describe an energy transformation List a strength of the visual Offer a suggestion for improvement

What to turn in The visual The project handout (white – title: Energy Transformation Project) The written portion – through google classroom DID YOU CLICK Turn-In in the upper right?

Some Definitions Force: a push or a pull on an object because of its interaction with another object Gravitational force: The force of attraction between all masses in the universe Frictional force: the force that resists the motion of an object Applied force: a push or pull on an object by a person or by another object Normal Force: a force that prevents objects from falling forever

Free Body Diagrams A way to show forces Includes only the forces acting on an object Called a “free” body because you only show the object, not its surroundings (so it is “free” of its environment)
