2 Background Students need to be competent users of NHS Core Content in professional life GMC requirement Limited opportunities to train Not about HEIs cancelling content Not about HEIs cancelling content – non-NHS researchers need to retain existing HE content Successful 3 year project to register medic & nursing students in HE and to teach/learn/use before placement UHMLG Chilworth 2011 2

3 Current status 2011 Core Content eligibility categories extended and widened to all health care students Eligibility criteria… F. Individuals engaged to provide education, training or research for the NHS in England from the date of commencementNHS-commissioned for the duration of their programme. G. Healthcare students, from the date of commencement of an NHS-commissioned education programme which involves practice and placement within NHS provider services, for the duration of their programme.
