3 Cover Letter – divided into 3 Paragraphs 1. Opening paragraph 1. Catch their attention 2. Explain WHY you are writing, why you are sending a resume 3. Establish who you are, why they should be talking to you 4. Reference how you know/heard about the job/position 2. Body 1. “Frame” your skills in the context of the business 2. Not only talk about your skills/qualities, but how your skills/qualities FIT what they are hiring for 3. Reflect your understanding of the company – do your research 3. Closing paragraph 1. Tell how you will follow up - “call to action”
