Science quiz on Weathering

Standards SE.6.E.6.1 Describe and give examples of ways in which Earth’s Surface is built up and torn down by physical and chemical weathering, erosion, and deposition. SC.6.E.6.2 Identify steps in which this process is carried out. The goals and objectives of this lesson are to round out my lesson on the rock cycle by explaining how weathering is one of the ways in which rocks are altered over time. This short quiz is given immediately after the lesson as an “exit” the class quiz.

Weathering Lesson Abstract in bulleted format

Chemical verses mechanical weathering Assign pages in the text to read at home Provide a discussion question on Haiku for students to discuss the reading. (question example provided on another slide) Reinforce previous lesson of the rock cycle Have students create a flip chart that shows weathering examples by ice, wind, water, and creatures. Allow students to create a Powerpoint presentation, in groups, that explains weathering and erosion. Follow – up all activities with a QuizStar Quiz.

QUIZSTAR The following link is to a short “exit” quiz that I created using QuizStar. This would be used at the end of a class period in which we went over the information that was assigned as reading in the text, and before we move on to creating the flip books and the PowerPoint. To take the quiz as a student, and try out QuizStar as your students would, simply log in using gcustudent as the user name Password is gcu123 Address is: http://quizstar.4teachers.org/indexs.jsphttp://quizstar.4teachers.org/indexs.jsp
