2 Definition of an Informal Report
Informal reports are usually a few paragraphs in length and have only the important details, and follow a certain structure: An introduction A Body And a conclusion (sometimes including recommendations)

3 Different types of informal reports
Progress Report Periodic Report Investigative Report Incident Report Trip Report Test Report

4 Progress Reports The purpose of these reports are usually to keep managers or clients about a certain goal or checkpoint during a project.

5 Summarizes the entire report with a brief introduction.
Each program is separated and includes a summary of the program as well as a progress to date. The current status tells us what needs to be done next for the project and what has already been completed.

6 Periodic Reports Typically no longer than one or two pages.
Memos or s are most often used for these reports, they are sent to the manager of the project or the client.

7 Standardized heading How often the report is filed. Numerical data provided in a table format

8 Investigative Reports
Studies or assessments of an event or an individual. They are used to examine how and why something has occurred or to study a trend or strategy.

9 Introduction with a statement of purpose for the investigation.
Conclusion including findings of the result of the investigation and a recommendation of action.

10 Incident Reports An incident report is a step by step record of the occurrence, what happened during the incident why the incident happened who was affected by the aftermath of the incident and how management can take preventative measures to stop future incidents from happening.

11 Summary of report is listed in chronological order.
What the incident was, who was involved, and what injury was treated. Also a recommendation is provided as well. List of the officer who conducted the report and the approving officer receiving the report.

12 Incident Report Example Memo Format
Who conducted the interview/ incident report and when. Detailed description of what happened in chronological order.

13 Trip Report Permanent record of a trip's purpose and accomplishments: sites visited, customers/clients met, tasks completed, problems encountered and solved. Trip report is normally written as an to an immediate supervisor.

14 Where the trip was located.
The purpose or objective of the field trip. What happened as a result of the field trip.

15 Test Reports The recorded results of test or experiment. Accuracy is an essential goal of test reports.

16 Heading indicates the purpose of the test.
A small graph help presents a very clear and concise test results that are easy to read. From the results we can interpret what we should change or modify to change the results if necessary.
