2. T HIS IS A SUMMARY OF S ADDLE C LUB. Three girls are best friends and love riding. Lisa is new at riding, Carole knows a lot about horses, and Stevie is a good rider. They all are excited to go to horse camp but Stevie gets grounded right before. They all don’t know what to do and try to find an idea. These next few slides will show more about what happened and how Stevie felt.

3. D IARY E NTRY Stevie Lake’s Diary July 5, 2004 Dear Diary, Today Chad (my brother) had Mark, his friend over, and they of course, found some bad prank to do. I went over to Lisa’s house with Carole and we were going to have a sleepover but I wanted to figure out what they were going to do. We went to my house and we tpd the front yard and put water on it. I thought it would be a good idea because then Chad would have to pick it up and it would be hard to pick up. Then we got a ladder and we looked in his room. They were putting super glue in my new riding boots!!! I was so mad that I yelled at him and he saw me. Lisa and Carole were trying to tell me that the lights downstairs were going on and that the front door was opening. I still was screaming and yelling at my brother that I didn’t listen and didn’t hear. The door opened and my parents came out. I fell into the flower garden and ruined all of the good flowers and foods my mom was growing. Carole fell into the pool and I just laid there on the flower garden. That is the reason I got grounded.

4. D IARY E NTRY Dear Diary, July 8, 2004 I can’t stand not being with Belle. It is horrible. I miss her horribly and I want so badly to go to camp. Now that I am grounded I can’t go to horse camp. Somehow I will find out some way to go to camp and see Belle. Chad has been acting weird. He has been asking me too many questions about sick horses. I wonder what happened. I am just worrying a little about Belle. I hope she is okay and I will find out a way to get to camp, maybe? Read to find out what is going on with Chad, see if Belle is okay, and see if she can get to horse camp.

5. N OVEL C OMPARISON Wonder and Saddle Club – Tight Rein Wonder has similarities to The Saddle Club. Carole is nice and fun like Summer. Stevie, Lisa, and Carole have a mean person they know like August. Stevie, Lisa, and Carole are going to camp like August went to camp. Both books have characters that have to face hard challenges. Chad is mean but is getting nicer like Jack at first was a little mean.
