“It shall greatly help to thee to understand Scripture if thou mark not only what is spoken or written, but of whom and to whom, with what words, at what time, where, and to what intent, under what circumstances, considering what goeth before and what followeth.” - “Golden Rule of Interpretation” by John Wycliffe

Hebrews 1:1: “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways” Hebrews 1:2a: “but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son”

Hebrews 1:8-9: “But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” (taken from Psalm 45:6-7)

Hebrews 1:10-12: “He also says, “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.” (taken from Psalm 102:25-27)

Hebrews 2:7: “You made them [mankind] a little lower than the angels.” Hebrews 2:10: “It was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.”

Hebrews 2:14-15: “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.”

“An apostle, like a prophet, came from God to man with a message; he spoke for God to man. However, a high priest was going on the other side of the freeway in the opposite direction. He was going from man to God; he represented man before God.” - J. Vernon McGee

Hebrews 3:6: “But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.” The Peril of Unbelief

Hebrews 4:10: “For anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.” Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double- edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
