Training Program 2 years basic training BEFORE registering with the college – PGY1&2 1 year provisional training (PGY3) – Usually do primary exams this year – At least 6 months ED – need 3x ‘structured references’ – Can do this as the ED SHO year

Training Program Primary exam – Anatomy – Pathology – Physiology – Pharmacology 4 written papers & combined viva 2017- combined written & viva

Training Program Advanced training (min 4 years) 6mth critical care (Anaesthetics/ICU) 6mth discretionary 6mth non-ED Remainder ED (30mth) – 6mth tertiary – 6mth urban – 6mth paeds

Training Program Fellowship exam – Written (any time after 12mth advanced training ED) – OSCE within last 12mths of advanced training Consultant-level – knowledge and skills Can split written & OSCE

What do you need to do? Consider ED SHO job in PGY3 – RBWH, PAH, QEII, Mackay etc Have a mentor help you review your CV – Are you “well balanced” i.e. clinical, teaching, practical skills etc Talk to a DEMT early!
