The purpose of this program and other programs in this catechetical series is to give honor and glory to God, our Father and to obey Jesus command to spread the “Good News to all the nations” Let us pray: Father we thank you for the gift of life you have given us. 2. 2 Peace be with you. The following slides will identify the vessels used for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. You will learn what each item is, and how it is to use in setting up for Mass.

4. 4 VESSELS USED FOR MASS CHALICE SET-UP

5. 5 CORPORAL Is a small cloth, it has a red cross in the middle. It is folded & when open it is approximately a 20 inches square, upon which the Body and Blood of Jesus rest upon. It is placed in the center of the altar.

6. 6 CHALICE Contains the wine that will become the Blood of Jesus

7. 7 The chalice is placed in the middle of the corporal

8. 8 PURIFICATOR The purificator is a small linen cloth used during Mass to dry and clean the chalice. It is place on top of the chalice.

9. 9 CORPORAL CHALICE PURIFICATOR

11. 11 PATEN Paten is circular dish either gold or silver. It is used in the Mass to hold the host and to gather up particles of the broken host from the surface of the corporal.

12. 12 PATEN WITH LARGE HOST PATEN WITH LARGE HOST At the Consecration the bread becomes Jesus under the appearance of bread.

16. 16 CHALICE VEIL Chalice veil is a cloth made of the same material and color of the priest vestments. It is used to cover the chalice when it is carried to or from the altar.
