Objectives: By the conclusion of the class students will understand basic environmental processes. They will also be conversant in current environmental issues such as global warming, acid rain, ozone depletion, solid waste, and hazardous waste disposal.

Paper: Each student in the class will write a paper describing their relationship with the earth and responsibility for the environment. This paper should contain moral, ethical, philosophical, and spiritual arguments and include at least five references (at least two must be something other than the scriptures and/or general authorities.)

The class web-site at can be located from the college web page (www.et.byu.edu, click on Student Information, then Coursewww.et.byu.edu Website, then Ce 351-02, or just go to www.et.byu.edu/groups/ce351)www.et.byu.edu/groups/ce351 and will contain the TA’s office hours and email address, the course schedule, a copy of the instructor’s original lecture notes and overhead transparencies, the homework assignments, the current grade posting, and buttons to allow quick email to Dr. Borup and the TA. Check it regularly to ensure that your homework scores are properly posted.

Homework. Problems have been selected from the questions at the end of each chapter of the text. Generally, they are due the class period following the last lecture for the chapter. See the schedule for more specifics. Each question is worth five points even though some are more involved than others. They are due by 5 pm in the box outside my door.
