Steps of the Research Process
Identify the issue or problem. Form questions. Gather evidence. Interpret information and draw conclusions. Communicate findings (quote or paraphrase).

Vocabulary: Search Terms
The words or phrases entered into an online search engine to find information related to the words or phrases. To find relevant info. on the Internet, you need to use effective search terms

Search Terms Choose terms that narrow your results.
For example, searching “driving accidents” will return broad information, but searching the term “distracted driving” will return results more closely in line with topic

Using the Internet The Internet has a lot of information that is not reliable or credible You must carefully examine the web sites that offer information

Using the Internet Faulty information and unreliable sources undermine the validity of one’s argument

Research Questions What do you think a research question is?
What makes an effective research question? Open-ended, directly related to claim, and purposeful (the answer will be used to support the argument)

How will gathering evidence affect my research questions?
Gaining a deeper understanding about a topic leads to revising existing questions and generating additional questions.
