Grand Canyon

What is it? It is a canyon formed by the Colorado River 17,000,000 years ago. It is 277 miles long and 18 miles wide.

History 10,000 years ago the first Indians settled there. They left art on the rocks and other things like pottery.

National Park Theodor Roosevelt made it a national monument In 1908 it opened to the public as a National Park. There are two places that have visitor centers. The South Rim and the North Rim.

South Rim The Grand Canyon National Park South Rim is opened between 9:30 am and 5 pm. Unlike the North Rim, it is open year around. They offer free Ranger tours. There is a indoor exhibit and a 20 minute movie.

What To Do You can go on a Fossil Walk at 11 am. It is 60 minutes. You can go and do a Why It Matters Walk. It is 30 minutes. You can also go a Geo – Glimpse walk at 3:30 pm that is 30 minutes.
