Between August and November 1888, 5 prostitutes were killed by Jack the ripper. Maybe he killed 3 more women. The murderer sometimes sent small parcels with their body parts to the police. The murders all took place in the Whitechapel area in London, the poorest district at the time. All 5 women were probably drunk when they were killed.

The Scotland Yard police and the Metropolitan police worked hard and arrested some suspects. But at that time, the scientific methods were not very developped and the serial killer didn’t leave many clues. One thing was sure, the murderer knew exactly how to cut bodies: was he a butcher or a doctor? This still remains a mystery…
