Conclusions 1)When making decisions about cooperation, trust is salient for women, but not for men. 2)Fundamentalism reduces the propensity for women to participate in environmental cooperation, but this effect does not hold for men. 3)Protestant Fundamentalism promotes rigid gender roles often associated with the Feminine Mystique, and we find that these roles among other things have negative effects on women’s trust and cooperation.
