The Divine Engine Morning and Evening Supplications Unit:2 Part:1 Taught By: Hacene Chebbani

Sixth Supplication “O Allah, make me healthy in my body. Oh Allah, preserve for me my hearing. Oh Allah, preserve for me my sight. There is none worthy of worship but You. Oh Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is none worthy of worship but You.” (3 times in the morning and 3 times in the evening).

Continued The Hadith of this Dua’: –Narrated by Abdurahman ibn Abee Bakra (Radia Allahu Anhu). –The son asked his father, why do you recite this dua’ every morning and every evening. –The father replied: “I heard the Messenger of Allah using these words in his dua’ and I like to follow his sunnah.” What is amazing about his response?

Continued 1.The hadith was classified as hassan by Ibn Hajar, Al-Albaani, and Ibn Baaz in his tuhfah. 2.It was collected by Abu Dawood, Ahmed, An-Nasai’ in Amal Alyawm wa allailah, and by albukhari in Al-Adab al- Mufrad. 3.Who is Abdurahman ibn Abee Bakra?

Meanings and Beauty Oh Allah, make healthy in my body. Good Health in Islam One of the greatest blessings. Our bodies are a trust and amanah. A favor that is taken for granted. Beautiful Arabic Proverb. Allah will take us to account about the treatment of our bodies.

Some Healthy Measures to Maintain Well-being 1.Diet and Nutrition: - Eating of healthy wholesome food and eating in moderation are two habits that are highly promoted in Shariah. Review Surah albaqarah, verses 168 and 172. - A healthy nutritious diet must be balanced. - Eating excessively causes harm to our system. “And eat and drink, but avoid excess.” 7/31

Diet and Nutrition Over indulgence and wasting of food are not appreciated in Islam. The Prophet (Salla Allahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: “No human being has ever filled a container worse than his own stomach. The son of Adam needs no more than a few morsels of food to keep up his strength, doing so he should consider that a third of his stomach is for food, a third for drink and another third for breathing” Ibn Maajah. Classified as saheeh by Al-albaani.

Fasting 2.Second Healthy Measure: Fasting. Fasting is an ideal time to remove impurities. Research has proven that fasting can lower blood sugar levels and cholesterol. Note: The famous hadith: “Observe fasting and you will be healthy.” is weak. Some have said that it could be fabricated. However, the meaning is true.

Prohibition of Intoxicants 3.Third Measure: Prohibition of Intoxicants Islam strictly forbids indulgence in intoxicants such as alcohol and drugs for good reasons. The limited pleasure of these substances causes long term damage. Some schools of thoughts have included smoking within the list of prohibitions. The background of the previous ruling regarding cigarettes.

Islam and Sickness Good health could be a veil between the human being and his Lord. Poor health could be a cure and a remedy for his spiritual illnesses. From this perspective, illness could be a great blessing. The true believer is always a winner. (Great hadith)

Why did Allah create illness and suffering? So good health and prosperity might appear through its opposite. This life is a test. Sayings of the Prophet (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) regarding the plentiful rewards of the sick person. Note: Are we supposed to seek for health problems? Can we ask Allah to grant us illness?

In Search of good understanding So many supplications in the sunnah, made by the Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) asking his Lord safety and security from calamities and illnesses. Among them is this one: “Oh Allah, make me healthy in my body, Oh Allah preserve for me my hearing, Oh Allah preserve for me my sight…” Ears and eyes, aren’t they part of the body? Why are they singled out with dua’?

Amplify your Dua’ with Tawheed The next phrase: “There is none worthy of worship with truth except You.” This is tawassul with tawheed. It is the best type of tawassul. Tawassul means supplicating Allah by means of intermediation. Our dua’ is amplified with Tawassul.

Visiting the Sick is Rewarded by Allah It is one the rights of one Muslim over his brother in faith. What are the other rights? There is a great reward awaiting those who visit the sick. –In the harvest of paradise. –Immersed in the Mercy of Allah. –This one takes the cake.
