Review  What is a convection cell?  An area where high and low energy molecules move in a circular pattern rising when they gain energy and falling when they lose energy  How are convection cells created on Earth?  Molecules receive energy from radiation or conduction, become less dense, and rise into the atmosphere. The molecules give away energy through conduction, become more dense, and fall back toward Earth.

Model  In your table groups, you will create a model that shows what happens in the atmosphere to create wind.  Consider the following questions  How will you show the direction that air is moving?  How will you show energy transfer and the direction of transfer?  How can you use color to help show the wind?  Would a 3-D or 2-D model tell the story better?  How does temperature figure into your wind model?

5. Does your model demonstrate  How wind starts?  How the Sun is involved?  Energy transfer by radiation, conduction, and convection?  Differential heating?  Air pressure and air density?  How wind moves across Earth’s surface?
