Made up of the Heart, blood vessels and blood Carries needed materials to cells (oxygen) and carries waste products away from cells

Heart-Muscular organ that pumps blood throughout the body Each time the heart beats it pushes blood through the vessels of the cardiovascular system. Valve- A flap of tissue that prevent blood from flowing backward inside the heart.

Atrium- receives blood that comes into the heart. Ventricle- Lower chamber. Pumps blood out of the heart into the body.

Arteries- Carry blood away from the heart (O2 rich) Veins- Carries blood to the heart. Capillaries- Any vessel where substances are exchanged between blood and body cells.

Pacemaker- put inside the body. Controls the need for O2 Blood Pressure- The force in which the valves shut. Hypertension- Higher blood pressure than normal

Network of vein like vessels that return fluid to the bloodstream. Lymph nodes- Small nodes of tissue- traps bacteria. Lymph nodes may enlarge when they are helping the body fight infection.

Cardiovascular health can be maintained by strengthening the heart muscle through regular exercise. Eating Right
