1. Circulatory System

2.  Made up of the Heart, blood vessels and blood  Carries needed materials to cells (oxygen) and carries waste products away from cells

3.  Heart-Muscular organ that pumps blood throughout the body  Each time the heart beats it pushes blood through the vessels of the cardiovascular system.  Valve- A flap of tissue that prevent blood from flowing backward inside the heart.

4.  Atrium- receives blood that comes into the heart.  Ventricle- Lower chamber. Pumps blood out of the heart into the body.

5.  Arteries- Carry blood away from the heart (O2 rich)  Veins- Carries blood to the heart.  Capillaries- Any vessel where substances are exchanged between blood and body cells.

6.  Pacemaker- put inside the body. Controls the need for O2  Blood Pressure- The force in which the valves shut.  Hypertension- Higher blood pressure than normal

7.  Network of vein like vessels that return fluid to the bloodstream.  Lymph nodes- Small nodes of tissue- traps bacteria.  Lymph nodes may enlarge when they are helping the body fight infection.

8.  Cardiovascular health can be maintained by strengthening the heart muscle through regular exercise.  Eating Right
