3D Design Precision Measurement Creating Holes Types of Edges The Offset Tool Copy and Paste Roof Types
2
Use the RECTANGLE tool to draw a square OR rectangle on the ground. QUESTION: How do you change the size of the object after you’ve already placed it? Which tool do you use?
3
The MOVE tool Highlight just one end of your shape and then “move” it (push or pull)
4
Highlight the entire TOP of the object and move it. Where can you move it?
5
Putting the object BACK where it started is not always easy just by moving it. This object LOOKS pretty close to being lined back up at the axes of the three lines….but…
6
If you zoom in, you can clearly see that the object is still floating and not back at the intersection of the axes.
7
Right click on the object and select “Align Axes”
8
NOW the object is back where it should be!
9
Delete your shape…
10
1.Start drawing a square or rectangle. 2.Let go without clicking again! 3.Notice the size of the object you just drew in the lower right corner. 4.Type the dimensions you want the object to be. Example: 4mm, 6.5mm THIS random shape is 314mm (one foot) wide and 228mm deep!
12
1. Choose “Find my Object” (Zoom Extents tool) 2. Zoom in more until you see your object better.
13
When typing in measurements, the WIDTH is first. Add dimension lines to double check your measurements.
14
Extrude the rectangle
15
Create two circles. Pull one our and push one in.
16
Delete both circles
17
In order to make a hole through an object, the hole must end “On Face”. Rotate to the other side to see it better!
18
Then, simply press DELETE and the hole is created!
19
Types of Edges
20
1. To create a round edge, choose the “2 Point Arc” tool. 2. Click on two sides of the object.
21
Use the “Push-Pull” tool to push the corner away.
24
Draw a 3D rectangle of any size.
25
Use the rectangle tool to draw a window.
26
Offset Tool Use the “Offset” Tool to create perfect molding around (inside) a window or door!
27
Roof Styles
28
Find Midpoint
29
Draw a vertical line (on Blue Axis)
30
Draw lines up to the top of the line.
31
Now you have the start of a front gable roof.
32
Delete the vertical line.
33
Rotate the house to the backside.
34
Pull the roof IN.
35
Oh no! The roof is hollow!
36
Simply draw another vertical line and the roof fills in!
37
Painting Paint the roof a “Roofing” color Why are the shingles too big for my roof? My “house” is only 545mm (less than 2 feet!)
38
Cross Gabled Roof Draw a vertical line on the side of the house.
39
Follow the same steps as before. You can make your cross gable the full width of the house or smaller.
40
PUSH the cross gable all the way “into” the existing roof.
41
Finish by painting the rest of the roof, the walls, trim, and windows.

Assignment: Design a custom 3D house! See gradesheet for requirements. Walls my be solid instead of “framed”. Furniture may be downloaded instead of designed. Do NOT install a roof so we can see inside.
