3 Objectives of collaboration Understand the role and experiences of P4P within the overall framework of inclusive food systems. Develop a picture of the market environment within which P4P operates to inform upscaling/exit strategies Contribute to policy dialogue on the development of local and regional food procurement.

4 Activities A series of scoping missions (Oct 2012-Feb 2013 in seven countries (Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Ghana, El Salvador, Guatemala) to develop individual country case studies which will culminate in an occasional paper on the topic of institutional buying.

5 What has worked well Support shown by WFP field offices to contribute to the success of the missions. Joint missions demonstrating to national partners the commitment of the two agencies to capitalize on synergies. Follow-up dialogue on how we can build on this work

6 Main Challenges Communicating the importance of engaging with non-direct counterparts (private sector, traders, MinCom, MinEd) Different approach to PWB and allocation of time and resources Understanding how to capitalize on different institutional competencies

7 Moving Forward Develop a joint follow-up strategy strengthening the P4P approach. Forward planning to ensure joint activities are included in respective PWBs. Ensure that emerging technical and programmatic lessons contribute to the sustainability of PAA.
