Trustworthy Be Honest Don’t deceive, cheat, or steal Be reliable Do what you say you will do Have the courage to do the right thing Build a good reputation Stand by your friends, family and country

Respect Follow the Golden Rule- “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” Be tolerant of differences Treat others with respect Use good manners- avoid bad language Be considerate of the feelings of others Deal peacefully with anger, insults and disagreements

Responsibility Do what you are supposed to do Persevere- keep on trying! Always give your best effort! Be self-disciplined, Use self-control Think before you act-consider the consequences Be accountable for your choices

Fairness Play by the rules Take turns and share Be open-minded Listen to others Don’t take advantage of others Don’t blame others carelessly

Great Character gets rewarded CIF awards a “Champions for Character Award” to deserving student/athletes each year Inland Valley League chooses a school with best sportsmanship each year. 2008-09 Valley View- tickets to Dodgers game in the Spring.

What’s next? 1.Go to your group 2.Athletic Directors will help you discuss issues with members in your group relating to sportsmanship 3.Create a skit with your group about sportsmanship and the 6 pillars of Character 4.Present your skit to the entire group 5.Meet with your school members and debrief.
