3. 3 RSC Northern e-Learning Group, 8 June 2011 Background 2009 – EDINA proposed a single flexible platform for multimedia content – key aims:  Simplify search by allowing cross-search of existing platforms from single location, with browse functions  Allow for addition of new content  Allow for removal of old content (e.g. Getty licence for images in Education Image Gallery ended in 2010)  Reduce ongoing running costs 2010 – funding agreed for EDINA and JISC Collections to develop new multimedia platform, in response to a formal request from JISC for a joint proposal
