3. 2.LOCAL GOVERNMENT RUN Run by the council to meet local needs and provide a range of local services. E.g. housing, street lighting, education, leisure Financed by council tax and money from central government.

4. Many local council services have been contracted out to private firms For example school meals, school cleaning. This will not only cut the costs of the council but also should provide a cheaper more efficient service for the public.
