Establish protocol: In order that we have as full and frank discussion as possible we ask that what is said here is not reported to the media you will understand that the Panel will not be able to address any matters that apply to individual pupils. Is being in classes of mixed ages a reason for the inadequate judgement?
IP or KB: We have good and outstanding schools across the country that have mixed age classes – no correlation between quality of education and mixed age groups.

Mathematics has been a weakness for a few years now, why has this not been addressed before now and what is being done now? JW / BP: Previous headteacher worked to develop the subject leaders’ practice LA supported visits to other schools to look at dialogue and reasoning / pupils’ active participation in lessons Anthony Reddy training provided by LA

How can we be assured that the standards of Year 4’s will meet that of pupils from other schools when they move to Pinvin Middle School? Brian Pengelly – broadly in line with national age related expectations

How do we know that you’ve got a grip on things now?
Julie Rigorous Monitoring Programme in place since January Lesson Observations Work Scrutiny Planning handed in weekly and scrutinised Pupil Progress Meetings held with teacher and head termly Planning formats changed to include learning intentions, prior learning, success criteria SEN being addressed Already met with County Advisor and begun to accurately assess the needs of every child Teachers trained on Wave 1 – High quality teaching first TA’s and teachers to be trained by Easter by County Advisor on effective deployment Teachers supported by county advisors on planning effective sequences of learning that challenge children appropriately Teachers sent to outstanding school in worcestershire to jointly observe outstanding teachers with the Head Parent communication Honest letter sent out at the beginning of term stating strategic plans for improvement Introduction of parent forum Open door Brought parent evening forward
