5. What is Heifer International? Heifer International is a global nonprofit with the goal of ending poverty and hunger in a sustainable fashion. Established in 1944, Heifer International gives out gifts of livestock, seeds and trees and extensive training to those in need. Based in Little Rock, Arkansas, Heifer International has helped more than 13.6 million families (71 million people) in more than 125 countries

6. A Cow is the Perfect Gift? Today, millions of people who were once hungry will be nourished by milk, eggs and fresh vegetables. Families who for generations knew only poverty will be building new homes and starting businesses. Children who once headed out to the fields to do backbreaking work will be heading into schoolrooms to learn to read. And people who never thought they'd be in a position to help someone else will be experiencing the joy of charitable giving.

8. The Class Project The Northview Humanities teachers at each grade level will use Heifer International as a platform to teach issues pertaining to service, sustainability, and Global resources. The lesson will culminate in a fundraiser where each grade level will purchase an animal or animals to donate to village in need.
