WHAT HAPPENED:SIGNIFICANCE:  Fishing vessel sank at Port Ludlow Marina and was discharging red-dyed diesel; owner was unreachable.  Port Ludlow FD deployed containment boom.  USCG SPS accessed OSLTF and hired Global Diving and Salvage to conduct on water recovery, conduct a dive assessment, and defuel.  Refloat to defuel:  USCG A&J and partners in the response  Est. 220 gal. removed/ 45 gal. recovered from waterway

10. WHAT HAPPENED:SIGNIFICANCE:  Vessel broke anchor and grounded near Discovery Park. Vessel owner was unreachable and we didn’t know what (i.e. fuel) was onboard.  SPS accessed the OSLTF and hired Ballard Marine Construction to assess, defuel  While onboard they discovered what was believed to be a halon system, so all disembarked.  SPS accessed the CERCLA fund and hired NRCES to haz-cat and remove the system.  Approx. 125 gal. mixed petroleum removed & installed CO2 system.  Good cooperation from different contractors/ agencies to fill different roles.  Safety kept as #1 priority for all involved.

11. WHAT HAPPENED:SIGNIFICANCE:  Vessel sank while moored in the Quileute Tribal Marina and was discharging fuel. The vessel owner was available but stated he could not fund clean up.  QTM deployed containment boom.  SPS accessed the OSLTF and hired Global Diving and Salvage to conduct on water recovery and defuel the vessel.  Vessel discharged est. 75 gals of Diesel but 250 gals were recovered from the vessel/ prevented from discharging.  Some difficulty with private owner vs. “LLC”
