What is Media? Media: the main means of mass communication (ex. television, radio, newspapers, and the Internet) regarded collectively.

History 3700: In Sumer, tokens representing goods are placed in clay ball envelopes.

History 10,000: Writing on skin. Tattooing instruments found in Europe. Tattoos are very popular this day in age, and tattoo instruments have developed greatly since the first one

History 45,000: In what is now Hungary, a Neanderthal carves on a woolly mammoth tooth.

History 3500 BCE- In Sumer and Elam, the beginning of pictographic writing. Pictographic writing used in writing and graphic systems, which is still used to this day.

History 200BCE- Greeks, Romans use wax-on-wood tablets for note taking. Notes still get taken, however now it is with paper and writing utensils such as pens and pencils.

History 1498: Music is printed in Venice using movable type.

History 1502: The pocket watch was invented. Pocket watches have since then developed and are still being used. Now regular wrist watches are usually used.

History 1790: In England, the hydraulic press is invented. Hydraulic presses have developed since then, but the idea is still the same.

History 1803: The periodic table of atomic elements is created. This is still used to this day, and is very important for chemistry.

History 1861: First chemical means to color photography.

History 1874: Quadriplex telegraph system allows four messages to travel over single wire. This was invented my Thomas Edison.

History 1884: The electric tabulator. machine designed to assist in summarizing information and, later, accounting. Invented by Herman Hollerith, the machine was developed to help process data for the 1890 U.S. Census.

History 1908: A trust, the Motion Picture Patents Co., is set up to control U.S. movie making.

History 1930: Broadway gets professional stage lighting. Broadway still uses professional lighting.

History 1935: In Nazi Germany, magnetic tape and Magnetophone recorder are developed.

History 1969: The Woodstock music festival. This festival went down in history as something that was extremely crazy. It was originally suppose to be small but a lot of people showed up then was expected. It lasted for a few days.

History 1997: A laptop gets a DVD drive. This was advanced technology for its day.

History 2004: The iPod holds 10,000 tunes, but fits into a shirt pocket. I do not why you would even have tunes but it was invented anyways.

History 2010: 3D TV. This is still very popular, and it was pretty cool when it came out.
