CLEO PROJECT ROLE To enable a pilot of possible solutions To coordinate communications between organisations To evaluate pilot solutions for a trial period If successful, to consider proposals for future CLEO service to support all schools in region in enabling remote access

LEAs Role First point of contact for technical support Cumbria – Jeff Haslem Lancs – Westfield Centre Liaise with LUNS on schools behalf to resolve issues with pilot

LUNS Role To ensure that the CLEO network can technically support remote access To provide options for solutions To evaluate impact on CLEO network and make recommendations for any future CLEO service To liaise with LEA technical support teams

School’s Role To provide all resources, required at school level, to support pilot project To ensure that any specific requirements of the pilot project to address risks are adhered to To evaluate security implications and decide your school’s policy for access To evaluate the technical success of the pilot in your school To complete evaluations of the impact on teaching and learning and/or management and administration and report back

Break Out Sessions Nominate scribe & spokesperson 1 hr 2 themes: 1.Technical or 2.Management, use and policy Each group to discuss from their perspective Reasons for remote access – who/why Schools suggestions & feedback Advantages/disadvantages of 2 solutions (technical) Issues Risks – rank low/medium/high, probability – low/medium/high

Next Steps CLEO schools remote access project group to produce a summary paper Discuss with Headteacher the implications of enabling remote access – benefits, risks and resources. Decide which pilot solution group you would prefer to join - return authorisation form Project commences rollout of pilots Attend next solution group meeting (Oct 2004) & final pilot evaluation meeting (Dec 2004) Install system for trial period – 2 months Complete evaluation documents Decide whether to continue as operational system

Proposed Schedule Tues 7 th Sept 2004 – pilot overview Wed 15 th Sept – deadline for return of forms Wed 15 th Sept – CLEO schools remote access project group meet to plan pilot rollout Schools contacted end Sept /early Oct with rollout details Mon 4 th Oct – target date for pilot to commence Wed 13 th Oct – Interim meeting with Pilot schools Wed 15 th Dec –Evaluation meeting with Pilot schools End of Autumn term – Pilot Phase ends Jan 2005 - CLEO schools remote access project group makes recommendations to CLEO Project Executive
