Linnaeus – 1750’s (Swedish) ◦ Based his system only on observable features ◦ Called BINOMIAL NOMENCLATURE Still used today Modern Classification ◦ System used today is based on Linnaeus’ system as well as: Microscopic structure Chemical analysis DNA (showing evolutionary relationships)
