Provost Update: Legislative Budget Request (LBR) 2013-14 $118M SUS request of which $12.4M is FIU’s share: Focus on three critical areas with revised metrics (~$4M per initiative): 1.FTIC 6 Yr graduation rates o from 47% to 49% 2.Percent of bachelor degrees awarded in STEM o from 18% to 20% 3.Research doctoral degrees awarded o From 177 to 220

Chair Recommendations Type CAC Issue/Recommendation University Duration Appointment term 3 year minimum 4 year term Office Hours flexible to fulfill all obligations Chairs, as administrators, are expected to be available during normal, University hours of business Teaching Load 50% of pre-chair teaching load based on needs of college No summer teaching Lab Space pre-chair space guaranteed during chair term plus one year space formula not applied quantitatively while on chair assignment (plus one year post term), as long as qualitative criteria (funding & GRA support) continues Admin leave one semester for each term served one semester for each term (4 yrs) Promotion service as chair counts 50% of weight after 2 terms service considered part of promotion criteria
