5.  The cost of operating a hydroelectric plant is relatively low compared to a fossil fuel power facilities  Hydroelectric plants are long-lived  The energy is made to last  Creates a constant source of energy, unlike solar power, as rivers will always flow  Next to no CO2 emission

6.  Dams required to spin turbines can damage surrounding environments by flooding  It takes lots of water to produce hydroelectric energy  Risk of dam failure  No widespread use  Methane emissions from the reservoirs  Often kills fish and other organisms
