Three month forecast? Experimental and cutting edge! Influence of El Niño? Higher probability of “Warmer and wetter than average” but “cant rule out a few colder spells”

Salt routes Priority 1 salt routes re-optimised for 2015/16 Same route coverage but with 5 fewer vehicles. Significant six figure saving! Going forward Priority 2 routes will be reviewed. Run <5 times per season. New dedicated fleet.

Salt Salt shortages received national media coverage in 2008 HCC increased its salt stock holding capacity in 2014 with the addition of Broadmarsh Depot Total capacity is now approx. 25,000 tonnes Current stockholding gives us capacity for over 200 ‘normal’ salt treatments without restocking. Typical winter is <100 runs!

Salt bins Hampshire County Council has over 3700 salt bins across the network Supporting community ‘self help’ Each salt bin holds 750kg of salt/grit mix Usage It takes over 2500t of salt/grit mix to fill all HCC salt bins Intelligent salt bins?

Snow Ploughing All our full-size spreading vehicles can be plough equipped in less than an hour. Selected routes have ‘Back to Black’ plough blades. Small fleet of snow blowers and throwers. Additional snow ploughing resource using farmers.
