Speaking Skills Make your message clear “You cant do anything right!” - this only places blame -no room for positive response -no listening skills at all

SPEAKING SKILLS 1. I Message- statement from the speaker’s point of view “Im mad because I wanted to work on this project together.” *** This does not scold or blame *** Tells how the speaker feels 2. Stay Calm 3. Stick to the point 4. Choose the right time and place 5. Be aware of body language and intonation

Listening Skills Good listener is an active listener Active listeners hear, think about, and respond to another’s message Becoming a better active listener: 1. Pay careful attention to ALL that the speaker has to say- keep an open mind 2. Use body language that shows you are listening- eyeballs on person 3. Think for a moment before speaking- mirror their thoughts and feelings 4. Ask questions- be sure to say if you didn’t understand them.
