Curriculum Middle School Math in the Issaquah School District is taught using Connected Math Program (CMP) The CC7/8 curriculum is taught using the Connected Math Program 3(CMP3). Supports CCSS (Common Core State Standards) We will do all 8 units in order (not all lessons) of CC7 Plus 2 units from the CMP3- 8 th grade curriculum First Unit: Shapes & Designs!
4
Assessments 75% Usually students will have one or two quizzes and one test per unit. Students will be allowed to retake quizzes and tests. The student’s retake score will replace the original score.
5
Assessments Cont. All students are eligible to retake a quiz or unit test under the following conditions: Students must present a signed form stating they reviewed the concepts with an adult and are prepared to show improvement. Quiz retakes must be completed prior to the unit test. Test Retakes must be completed within 2 weeks of the original test. Students are responsible for scheduling retakes with their teacher. *Most retakes are completed after school during Math Lab.
6
Assignments 25% Learning Checks – short & individual Some Warm Ups, Exit Tickets, Class work Partner Quizzes - used for reviewing concepts in a cooperative group setting HW will NOT be graded It is the expectation that students do the assigned homework in their math journal each night, self-correct from my website with red pen, and fill in the Learning Log
7
Homework – Not Graded The purpose of homework is for students to have an opportunity for independent practice to apply skills and concepts learned in class. Completing, self- correcting, and accurately fixing errors on homework will help students do well on all other assigned work in class. We will discuss struggles/issues on the homework during class as time allows. Answers are available on Connect: http://connect.issaquah.wednet.edu/middle/maywood/staf f/ms_weiks_site/default.aspx
