Output from ISPRS/GEO Workshop (9-10 June 2015, Beijing) The workshop “Supporting Future Earth with Global Geo- information" discussed the necessity and possibility to provide integrated global land cover information service: this can be achieved by setting up a Collaborative Global Land Information (CoGland) that integrates existing scattered geo- data sets at different scales, assembles geo-processing services, and links online applications. workshop participants agreed to work together towards the co-design, co-development and co-operation of the CoGland.

GEO-led Validation of 30-m Global Land Cover Data Products 2) Develop advanced tech. tools for facilitating the validation processes 1) Formulate a technical specification suitable for the validation of 30-m GLC data, including the sampling design, response design and analysis protocols 4) Organize the internationally collaborative validation and report to GEO plenary 3) Mobilize GEO members and participating organisations, including Integrating all available validation resources and expertise
19
Benefits evolve into a GEOSS Community Portal and serve as a use case model of GEO GCI bring in potential service providers and users of GEOSS help harmonize land cover datasets and services provide more resources to support GLC applications
20
Challenges How to leverage on and integrate with GEO GCI? Different types of specialized services Active search for GLC data and processing services GLC service standards Capabilities in performing dynamic GLC computing tasks based on services How to bring in more collaborators ? Make use of the resources of UN and ICSU A workshop next year (in Beijing?) that brings together many potential data and service providers
