3 Goals of P.A.L.S. Become acquainted with himself and other PALS Perform volunteer activities Fulfill other course requirements

4 Self Awareness Various assessments completed in class make one aware of personality traits, communication skills, and basic understanding of others. Self Evaluations help promote progress and awareness of growth.

5 Trust From Other PALS Assorted games & activities in class Retreat to the Ferndale 4-H Ropes Course Group volunteer projects

6 Performing a Mixture of Volunteer Work and Community Service Is the Heart of PALS

7 Individual Efforts Tutoring and mentoring students ranging from kindergarten to ninth grade Working at non- profit organizations

8 Group Efforts Building houses for Habitat for Humanity Raking leaves for the elderly Singing Christmas carols at nursing homes Working and donating at Red Cross blood drives

9 Course Requirements Journals document experiences to reflect upon what we’ve learned. Evaluations help instructors and PALS understand strengths and weaknesses. Service hour requirements

10 Journals Daily entries are required to record progress and regress in individual works. Additional entries are written for group work, expanding on lessons learned about self, others, and the impact on organizations.

11 Evaluations Self-evaluations promote teacher and PAL understandings of what skills have been obtained. Peer-evaluations locate problematic areas within course functioning. Year-end teacher evaluations shape changes of the course.

12 Service Hours Each PAL is required to complete 75 service hours over the course of the year to successfully complete the class.
