Objective of the GRANITE 2 1 st year : to find out the involvement of state government in the formation and implementation of NFTP 2 nd year : How NTFP is impacting the livelihoods of the poor in the specific product category? 3 rd year : the product categories change, the emphasis would be to advocate a pro poor, pro development policy in 2009

RESEARCH WHY: To prepare inputs for advocacy and networking. How: Institutional Analysis Consultation with stakeholders DELIVERABLE: 1 st Draft Research Paper Product category to be finalized BY WHEN: 31 st December. USE: The research shall be taken for discussion at the economic, political and social front for deliberations

ADVOCACY WHY: Seek changes at grassroots, state, national and international level to ensure economic literacy. HOW: Outreach Meetings: 3 per state in a year. targeting 150 people WHEN: By 31 ST JAN USE: Final draft paper to be taken for advocacy at state and national level. 225 parliamentarians targeted for advocacy each year. Specific advocacy to be conducted in 2008: CUTS- CITEE

NETWORKING WHY: Connecting the targeted beneficiaries of the project with state and national level policy makers. HOW: State level meeting: 1 in each state in a year A national level meeting WHEN: 31 ST MARCH USE: Draft paper to be placed in the informal policy forum for fine tuning Civil society statement to be prepared.

Deliverables according to the objectives 1. Strengthening GRANITE network by 2010: A critique on the process of preparation and implementation of NFTP by December 2007 Identification of two specific products for 2 nd and 3 rd year research.

Mobilization of 3600 beneficiaries: How: outreach meetings; inputs from outreach meetings incorporated in draft paper Database on relevant beneficiaries time to time. 500-100 newsletters to be produced quarterly in each state. 8 advocacy documents each year Advocacy documents to be submitted to state officials and shared with media and others.

Deliverable on the part of NCU 3. Gathering the evidence of CSO engagement in policy formulation: NCU would document the strategies and tools for advocacy and networking.

4. Mobilization of 1350 representatives: Advocacy strategies in consultation with the state partners prepared by September 2007. By June 2008, 9 advocacy meetings held

5. Educating 5000-8000 people by 2010 on issues of political economy of economic governance in India in context of NFTP: E-newsletters distributed by NCU nationally and internationally Stocktaking report to be disseminated to at least 5000 persons per year worldwide.
