8 Patron Driven Acquisition (PDA) Represents an agreement for a vendor to send e-resources that may be of interest to the institution or even for more institutions in a Collaborative Network Resources (i.e., candidate ebook titles) imported as a repository file and published to the discovery layer to be accessed by patrons Access monitored by vendor Usage (predefined threshold) creates automated purchase

9 Alma. Network Zone PDA for e-books in Alma Repository Vendor Discovery Vendor candidate e- books records (with URLs) are loaded into Alma repository Alma publishes candidates to discovery Users discover and use e-books, triggering purchases Vendor delivers PO via EOD & invoice via EDI Candidate e-books that are not in use are removed from repository and from discovery

11 PDA Configuration In order to start PDA in the Network Zone, it’s a prerequisite that the Collaborative Network has defined the acquisition infrastructure, such as: - Shared vendors - Shared funding (only if you want to manage the acquisition part in the Network Zone) - Shared licenses (not mandatory)

12 PDA Configuration PDA profile includes: General - PDA agreement details with vendor Repository profile - Details for loading candidates e-books to repository EOD profile – Details for creating purchase orders for e-books that were used by users Alma Menu > Acquisitions > Advanced Tools:

21 Now that everything is configured… Run repository import which will work based on PDA repository import profile

22 Now that everything is configured… Candidate records will be published to Primo for users to discover. They will be available for all members of the Collaborative Network or a group if defined in the Repository Profile.

23 Now that everything is configured… Once accessed will trigger an order Vendor will provide EOD for all e-books that were accessed Run EOD import which will work based on EOD profile – creating purchase
