Why Mrs. Brown Wants to Teach… She loves making material accessible to all students. She wants every student to love coming to school and wants to instill the desire for learning in children at a very young age. She loves watching student grow academically and socially throughout an academic year. She learns a great deal from students of all ages.

What is Mrs. Brown’s Background? She grew up in Northern California and attended public elementary schools and high schools. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at UCLA.UCLA She earned a Master’s degree in clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. She has three years of teaching experience in grades 1, 2, and 6.

Interesting Facts About Mrs. Brown… She was born in Germany. She has visited South Africa. She has hiked most trails in the Santa Monica mountains and in the greater Los Angeles area. She loves to bake Italian desserts.

Favorite Memories from Elementary School… Hearing her second grade teacher, Mrs. Garner, read “Ramona Quimby” books to the class. Learning all the states and capitals in 5 th grade. Dressing up for the Halloween parade every year. Working in the nurse’s office during recess. Winning the 5 th grade spelling bee.

Favorite Middle School Memories… Playing the flute in the band and performing in public concerts. Actually enjoying the long bus ride to and from school because this was time to socialize. Acquiring a love for math in seventh grade after taking a pre-algebra class.

Favorite High School Memories… Taking leadership rules in the student government. Class trip to the Sacramento River. Acquiring a love of writing from my sophomore year English teacher. Studying in Spain and becoming fluent in Spanish.

Mrs. Brown’s Goals… Continue to love the teaching profession and enjoy my second grade students. Continue to keep in contact with peers from CSUN as a way to share teaching experiences and ideas. CSUN Grow in the teaching profession by becoming involved in two professional organizations.
