3  Letters and Sciences Advising  Courses on major exploration and skills development (UNIV100, 106, 107, 108, and EDCP108C and 108G)  Pre-Health, Pre-Law, individual department and/or college advising, and faculty  Individual Studies Program  University Career Center & the President’s Promise (assessments, internships, research tools)  Counseling Center

4  Review website of the department that houses the major  Read course descriptions, explore faculty academic activity, and skim research produced in that field  Review 4yearplans.umd.edu  Speak with an advisor in the department or college that houses the major  Attend a workshop or information session  Review the Dept. of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook  Consider co-curricular activities

5  Student Clubs and Organizations  Research Opportunities  Jobs and Internships  Service Learning  Study Abroad

6  Very common for students to change their major at least once  Your major does not dictate the professions you can enter  College is not a Vocational School  Think holistically about your education
