Hazara people are located in central Afghanistan, or more specifically the central mountains between Kabul and Herat, or Harajat.

Hazaragi is a dialect of the Persian language spoken by the Hazara people, primarily in an area of central Afghanistan known as the Hazarajat, as well as other Hazara-populated areas of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran.

They were once the largest Afghan ethnic group constituting nearly 67% of the total population of the state before the 19th century.

Abdul Ali Mazari - was a political leader of the Hezbe Wahdat during and following the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Mazari was an ethnic Hazara, and believed the solution to the internal divisions in Afghanistan was in a federal system of governance, with each ethnic group having specific constitutional rights.

Today they constitute approximately 9% of the Afghan population

The Hazara settled in central Afghanistan, though in the mid 19th Century their brutal history of persecution began when more than half their population was killed or forced into exile.

More than half were massacred in 1893 when their autonomy was lost as a result of political action.

A cleft is a gap or split in the upper lip, the roof of the mouth (palate), or sometimes both. In Afghanistan, cleft lips aren’t too rare considering the conditions where the child is born.
