Welcome back, I hope everyone had a good winter break. Ahh, “back” the key word. You are back and school rules are in effect again. This is tricky for you because now we expect more from you, you see you have half a year at Gruening and are a pro now. If you don’t feel so pro like, here are some reminders! 68 days until spring break

Respect yourself Eventually you will be in charge of you life, when you take the reigns, don’t you want to be in charge of something awesome that is capable of chasing your dreams? Keep the doors open until you know you can afford to have them closed and locked!

Respect Environment This is school, a learning environment. Respect your teammates right to learn and your teachers right to teach. Help don’t hurt or hinder! This environment can be amazing if everyone chips in. Emotion are a lot like domino’s.

Using Passing Time Wisely Get supplies Use restroom Be on time in seat and be reading to learn Talk to friends if there is remaining time.

Science Daily Questions Will talk about it at the end of class but; 1 st 5 min of class. Come in silent, if you want to talk, go to the hall and begin working on SDQ

Class Begins Go over Science Daily Question. Start lesson, lab or activity. Please be attentive I can’t force you to learn but don’t interfere with someone else's choice. Raise a hand if you have something to add Cross Talk is discouraged Listen and follow instructions carefully.

Clean up I will instruct you when to clean up. It is really annoying when students clean up early. It is disruptive and unproductive. I often give last minute reminders and instructions. Please wait to clean up until instructed. I will hold class until the lesson reaches it’s conclusion. When instructed, please clean up your area, return all equipment and anything you borrowed. Please push in your chair and wait to be dismissed. Use it, put it away. Return it in the same or better condition.

Other Reminders Keep your notebook up to date You can use the white board to help you. Limit movement Limit volume If you can’t solve a problem ask for help Don’t touch equipment without permission Follow ALL instructions. And it’s a new quarter so grades have reset

Behavior Problem Form Dear Student, I regret to inform you that you were unable to follow instructions. This may include, inability to control volume, off task behavior, disruptive behavior or some other behavior. You will need to come in at the next available lunch to discuss the consequence to this behavior. If you do not show up at the next available lunch the resulting consequence will result in a minimum of a detention and an office referral. This slip of paper will serve as your lunch pass. Please make sure you check in at the cafeteria first. Sincerely, Mr. McDonald

Daily Science Questions Goal; almost every day you will have question, puzzle, response, or something silly. When you enter class, please look for it on the board. This means that you have something to do when you enter class, if you want to talk go out into the halls an talk, otherwise please start on the DSQ. This assignment is about the first 5 min of class. During it, Mr. McDonald will be talking attendance and sorting other things. This period of time is to be silent. When finished please wait quietly for class to start.
